Lesson #9: Life Long Learning 2.0

Business Balls
I did the multiple intelligences test and the results were: 31 on Logical-Mathematical and 32 in Musical and Bodily-Kinesthetic.

Nikon
On this website I explored Look Good in Pictures. This link has videos that give you tips on picture taking. These videos are NOT only geared towards Nikon cameras, they are for all cameras. Some tips that I got from one of the videos I watched was that

  1. Use "Party Mode" with ambient light

  2. Flash mode only works up to 10ft, turn if off for distant shots

  3. For close-up shots that flatter, step back and use the zoom

Cnet Digial Home DIY
Neat website to digitilize your home. The only thing I found worth while was that they have a video that shows you how to secure your wireless network. Everyone that owns a wireless router at home should secure it. I know that you should be nice to your neighbors, but they don't help you pay for the internet. The video seemed to guide you step by step.

Instructables
With this website I learned how to create a bookshelf out of encyclopedias!! Yay!! Now we have use for those out of date encyclopedias.

A bookshelf made of encyclopedias! YAY! - More DIY How To Projects

eHow
Sleek website that shows you how to do things. I read some articles and I was impressed. I liked the wedding, parties and entertaining sections. This website also has videos listed on the website under each category. They have some interesting subcategories.

Expert Village
This website is similar to youtube.com. They have videos on how to dance Merenge to how to apply makeup. You may leave comments on the videos just like in youtube.com. (Yes you must be a member to do this.) OMG, they even had a section for WEDDINGS!!!

How Stuff Works
I don't think I may get bored exploring this website. There are so many interesting facts. So much to Learn so little time. I learned that the people that clean-up accidents or crime scenes start at $35,000 a year and this job does not require a college degree. The article I read also stated that in a large city being a clean-up worker you could reach up to a six figure salary. WOW!

5 Min Lifeopedia
Fascinating website I must say. Under the fitness section they have mini dance videos for kids. While watching these videos, some of my co-workers started to do them. They thought that these moves were clever.

Lesson #8: OCLS and Library 2.0

This was a good lesson to relax after doing so much exploring in the previous lesson. I am fascinated with Blurb. This is like scrap booking online. You can upload photos, add text, add pre-made layouts...its amazing! There is software that you need to download on your computer, but it's free. I am going to make a book for my wedding.

Lesson #7: Web 2.0 Continues

This lesson had lots of information, so let me share what I saw.

Farecast
If you are planning to travel by plane soon you should check out this website. In this website you will be able to search for flights. You may search Hotwire, Expedia, AA, Priceline, and Travelocity. But the results are different type than the ones that you might have come across. If you see a green airport listing this indicates that they have a fare prediction for that. On the left-hand side of the screen, you will see the 7-day low fair prediction. This part (7-day low fair prediction) tells you if fares will rise, stay the same, or drop. The narrow results by is amazing! It is better than Cheaptickets and Travelocity. It has draggable/slider button that allows you to range your times. When you make changes it does not take long to update your results!!

Kayak
This website was okay, nothing fancy. Regular flight search. It did not catch my attention.

Rentometer
Rentometer was not bad. This is where you can find out if you are paying too much for rent in your area. I wish there was more you could do on this website. One thing I found interesting is that it gives you a map and other apartment listings which is helpful if you are seeking a better price on an apartment.

Zillow
Zillow was outstanding! I loved the information the website has to offer. This website lets you search houses that are for sale. It will also let you know if this house is being overpriced.

The 61
I did not care for this website. Basically it is website where you can listen to songs and rate them. Not my kind of thing because if I listen to music on a computer I tend to move away from the computer and then I miss parts of the song...well as you can see its a mess.

Pan Images
Superb website. This is where you type in a word and search for images, but you will get a little pop-up that will ask what language does this particular word belong too?, you click on one of the choices and you then get your results. BUT you get a split screen with results from flicker and google. You have to get used to the navigation if you want to see images from both places.

Im Cooked
WOW!!! At first sight I fell in LOVE

Amazing website EVER!!! This is my proof: (watch the video)

I am definitely going to make this...I believe it will go well with my chocolate covered strawberries. Yummy!!

Seomoz
This site contains a lot of the web 2.0 websites that we have already explored. I looked under the categories that interested me. I must say that I enjoyed Doof. Click Games, then click on all games, and finally click on the Brain Workout. It is fun, fun, fun.

Lesson #5 : Change Process

I really enjoyed the video of "A Vision of Students Today." (I don't think it really related much to the other documents of the blog. If you can explain it to me then leave me a comment.) I did not know Radiohead released a CD which let the consumer pay the amount they thought it was worth. I like that idea, but the record companies do not. I don't think music should be free, but I think a CD should cost around 5-7 dollars (even a new release). The USB bracelets...Whoa when did this happen? How come I didn't know about this? I guess it isn't that popular yet, but I am sure going to tell everyone I know. Since USB jump drives came out, I always wondered when this day would come...when CDs would be replaced by USBs.

Lesson #4: Information is Open Source

I really liked the Japanese University's method of teaching, but what about credits?

I liked the atmosphere because it is student centered. No school building? I would like to have a structure that meant something...I can't really explain myself, but if you don't get it just forget about it...but if you understand what I mean then ok. I liked how they use their local resources and I did see library listed. Go libraries everywhere!!!!

I can't believe that politics is everywhere..even on learn 2.1!! I can't wait until this election is over...it seems that it has gotten pretty steamy. The downside of posting your political video on youtube.com is that you are not guaranteed that the political candidates will see it or respond to it. You might get a lot of comments (even bad ones) from others that watch your video.

www.liveleak.com was neat.
I am familiar with Yahoo Answers, Facebook, and Google Scholar.

I did google myself and some results included:

  1. Facebook account

  2. Evanced

  3. Zoominfo.com this cite said the following:

My age, High School I attended, What state I am in, My Title as Student, and it also had two newspaper articles that I was in.

Lesson #3: Health, Wellness and Technology

I just have one question...why doesn't the US have a Wii workout room? Better yet why don't schools get grants since we always hear on the news that (some) people in America are overweight?

Besides that I

I think that everyone who tries the Nintendo Wii will love it. (Including Paco)

Since the last vet visit, Paco is hooked.

I really liked the idea of mp3 workouts which I never knew existed, but they are pricey. I didn't like the Cardio Coach because the mp3's sounded as if you were in a techno club.

As far as looking a workout videos on youtube.com, I think I will just stick with a free source library DVDs.

Learn 2.1

I am excited about learning 2.1 and can't wait to share this information with others!
